Our History
Our story
What is Sutton Carers Centre?
Sutton Carers Centre (SCC) is an independent Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee.
We belong to the Carers Trust national network. Having formed in 1992, we officially opened in November 1994 and celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2017.
Sutton Carers Centre provides advice, information, support and time out to Carers living and/or working in the London Borough of Sutton.
Who runs SCC?
The Centre is governed by a Board of Trustees and Directors, and employs a number of staff who offer information, advice, support and Young Carers services.
Our volunteers are responsible for an incredibly large part of the service we provide to Carers and their families. Roles of volunteers vary, but can include reception cover, facilitating groups, and attending outreach events to increase awareness, and our Trustees, who oversee the running of our charity.

How does SCC support Carers?
Sutton Carers’ Centre staff represent Carers on strategy and planning groups. We also actively encourage and support Carers to be involved in decision-making processes and community life.
We support Carers (and their families) to improve their health, wellbeing and quality of life by:
-
reaching out to every Carer in the London Borough of Sutton
-
helping Carers to understand their rights and get their voice heard
-
working with and for each Carer, respecting and responding to their individual skills, experience and choices.
