Young Carers and Young Adult Carer Activity Worker -
12 month paid internship

£26,936
Deadline: Monday 2nd February 2026 at 12pm

Jack Petchey Internship Programme -
We are excited to offer a 12-month internship for someone interested in starting a career in the Carer, youth, charity or community sector. Supported by the Jack Petchey Internship Programme, this role provides a structured learning and development opportunity with hands-on experience working with Young Carers (under 18) and Young Adult Carers (18–25).

Our intern will support the delivery of social, educational and wellbeing activities and breaks, attend outreach events and school assemblies to raise awareness of Young Carers, and lead a short project focused on engaging more Young Adult Carers aged 18–25.

You will receive regular supervision, training, mentoring and shadowing opportunities, alongside access to the Jack Petchey Internship Programme, including a £1,000 training budget, professional mentor, development workshops and peer networking.

This role would particularly suit someone with lived experience of caring and a strong interest in supporting young people. Knowledge of the different areas and communities in Sutton would be advantageous but not essential for this role.

Sutton Carers Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We value diversity and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from people with lived experience of caring and/or men (who are under-represented in our organisation). We also welcome applications from people who may have experienced mental or physical health issues, individuals from the global majority, the LGBTQ+ community, or any under-represented or minoritised community.
