Being a Carer is often a steep learning curve.

We navigate a whole range of challenges: accessing services, being recognised, gaining respite, managing day to day finances....

All of these hurdles; those you flew over and those you fell at, the good aspects and the flaws and problems associated with caring, have given you the knowledge to help shape services and the experiences of Carers.

From consultations to forums, this space is where you'll find current opportunities to get involved and have your voice heard.

Current opportunities:

Give feedback on care

Use this form to tell the Care Quality Commission about an experience of care (good or bad) or concern about a service you work for.

Ongoing
Policy Group

Facilitated by Citizens Advice Sutton and SCC, this group will combine practical, technical expertise on issues like benefits and housing with the real, lived experience of Carers. By bringing these perspectives together, we aim to influence policy in ways that genuinely improve life for Carers and their families.

Ongoing
NHS SW London ADHD Assessment

NHS South West London wants to improve the support available for people with ADHD. More people are seeking ADHD assessments, which means services are under pressure and waiting times can be long. This can also affect the support available after diagnosis.

We want to hear from people who are waiting for an ADHD assessment or who have already had one. Your feedback will help us understand people’s experiences and what support matters most as we review and improve ADHD services in South West London. The survey takes around 10 minutes and responses are anonymous.

Deadline April 12th 2026
Outpatient Services

The NHS in south west London is reviewing how outpatient care works so that people can be seen in the right place, at the right time, with the right support.

As part of this, they are asking local people to share their experiences and views through a short survey. Feedback will help inform how services are shaped in future.

There are three surveys to choose from, depending on what feels most relevant:

skin concerns (such as rashes, eczema, acne, psoriasis, infections, moles or other skin changes)

stomach and digestive concerns (such as ongoing stomach pain, bloating, bowel habit changes, reflux or other digestive concerns)

women’s health concerns (such as heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, menopause symptoms or other gynaecological issues)

You can take part if you have sought help for one of these concerns in the past two years, or if you may need to in future. Each survey takes around 5–10 minutes and responses are anonymous.

Deadline April 20th 2026

Can you help to put Carers on the map?

We’ve teamed up with Sutton Council, the NHS, schools and other community partners to make Sutton a better place for Carers.

Together, we’re working with Carers to develop a Carers Strategy for Sutton. The Carers Strategy will bring people together to look at what’s working locally, what can be improved, and what’s missing.

We want to hear from unpaid carers of all ages, so if you’re supporting a friend or family member of any age who is disabled, has a physical or mental illness, a substance misuse issue or long-term condition, or perhaps who needs extra help as they grow older, we want to hear from you.

We have been doing a lot of preparation work to review what you have told us in the past, and to find out what Carers are saying nationally - but what is it like to care in Sutton at the moment?  What is important to you?

Please share your views to shape Carer support in Sutton.

Strategies

A number of other Strategies that affect Carers in Sutton commenced in development in 2024.  These include a new Dementia Strategy, an End of Life Care Strategy, and a Mental Health Strategy amongst others.

Fancy a leadership role?

Look out for opportunities for Carers to take on leadership roles as part of various consultation activities.

These are mainly volunteer roles, with some small ‘reward and recognition’ vouchers given as a treat, to say, "thank you".  There also may be opportunities for some paid, sessional work with Sutton Carers Centre to help with the consultation.

Please let us know if you would like to hear more by email: jointheconversation@suttoncarerscentre.org

Carers Strategy

Sutton Council asked for views on changes it could make to how people pay for adult social care.  Proposed changes to the adult social care charging policy would mean that some people could pay more for their care and support, but the Council would have more money to support people who need care and are unable to pay for it.

The Council wrote directly to people who it thinks would be affected to understand what the impacts could be and what would help.

Look out for updates on consultations and strategy developments.
