On February 12th, Dalvinder Jammu, Patient Engagement and Stakeholder Lead, came in to talk to us about the NHS 111 service and there was so much we didn't know.
We'll add the session recording as soon as we can, but in the meantime you can catch up on the slides.
Dal's main points were:
If it's not an emergency (in which case call 999) but you're not sure, call.
If you need an interpreter, say so at the start. The call will take longer but pretty much any language can be facilitated.
Most people use NHS111 when their GP is closed or it's not possible to get an appointment.
If you are calling on behalf of someone, e.g. the person you care for, you must stay with them. The questions will need answers directly related to how the person looks and feels etc.
And, most importantly, if you're a Carer who is responsible for the wellbeing of someone else, cannot leave the person you care for or if the person is for example at risk because of how you are feeling, let the call handler know - it is really important to ensure they have a social picture as well as a medical one!
Check out the slides for all the information you did, and didn't know!
