Find out how to become a Sensory Detective!


Focus Surrey Management Team would like to invite parents Carers of children with ASD to attend their next guest speaker talk on Wednesday November 12th - Being a Sensory Detective at Home with Charlotte Anastasi, Highly Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist.


This talk will be held on Zoom. Join for an engaging, supportive session to learn how to use Occupational Therapy strategies to support self-regulation.


Topics include:

- What are our senses? 

- What do they each mean? 

- What might help your son / daughter with self-regulation?


Charlotte is an experienced Occupational Therapist, qualified in 2013. She supports children and young people in schools and clinics and at home to develop everyday skills and confidence. With a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language, she specializes in working with children who are Deaf and have additional special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition.  


Charlotte has postgraduate training in sensory processing and a passion for empowering parents and families to support their children at home.

There will be a minimum donation request of £3 per link, with all monies raised to go towards funding Focus Surrey Saturday club for children with autism.

This sounds like an invaluable session for parents. Understanding the "why" behind behavior often comes down to decoding sensory inputs, so the "Sensory Detective" theme is brilliant. Empowering families with OT strategies for self-regulation at home is so practical and necessary.

This focus on sensory processing is equally relevant for adults. Many adults navigate their days feeling overwhelmed or fatigued without realizing that their own sensory systems are constantly working overtime to manage the environment.

For parents or adults reading this who want to understand their own sensory profiles better—perhaps to better co-regulate with their children—finding a structured way to explore this is helpful.
