Carer Discounts

This summer might be a good time to check whether you could benefit from a Carer discount scheme.  There are a few different cards or schemes available and although some are free, others charge a fee, so it's worth checking what's around. 

CarerSmart and Discounts For Carers are free on-line membership schemes offering money-off shopping, travel, theatre and cinema tickets, home insurance and much more. 

Carers Card UK is a photo ID card which also offers on-line perks and discounts. No documentation or evidence is needed to get the card so sometimes you may need other proof of being a Carer.  It currently costs £8 for two years.

Carers Card UK also offers an app enabling you to access an exclusive range of online discounts and discounted e-Gift cards to be used in-store.

The Access Card gives quick and discreet information about the support you (or the person you care for) may need. It's recognised at lots of venues and can give concessionary ticket prices and reasonable adjustments.  It currently costs £15 for a card lasting three years.  Be prepared that you will need to upload evidence to support your application

The Sunflower card/lanyard or badge can be worn to show that someone may need some extra assistance/time.   The scheme also offers personalised photo ID cards, including cards for carers.   See: The Sunflower scheme doesn’t help with getting discounts but can make it easier when out and about.
