On November 20th we celebrated Carers Rights Day.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch, but in the meantime you can find out lots about Carers Rights on the Carers UK website here and on 'Know your rights, use your rights' here.

Council tax - We talked a bit about Council Tax reduction options during the session and we have a few blogs on Carers Council tax discount and a Council Tax Reduction Guidance for Carers.

Carers Assessments - Remember you have the right to a Carers Assessment!  This is an assessment to recognise your caring role and any support you may need to help you in that role.  If you haven't had an assessment before, or may be due a review (which you are eligible for annually), contact LBS Adult Social Services on 020 8770 5000, selecting Option 3, then Option 1.  If you need help, please get in touch so that we can complete the referral form with you.

Local Policy Group - Steve from Citizens Advice Sutton would like to invite you to join a group to help shape local research and campaigns work.  If you are interested or would like to find out more, please contact us.

And Young Carers . . .

Our amazing Young Carers were given space to speak their truth and shine!

They filled our Carers Rights sheet with post it notes, sharing the rights that matter most to them. One message stood out loud and clear: the right to respite and breaks is essential. Regular downtime helps our Young Carers protect their mental health, recharge, and enjoy the childhood they deserve — and they weren’t shy about reminding us of that. We can’t wait to come together again soon at our Christmas Mingle and Jingle party.

Our induction evenings are still up and running, with the next date on December 16th so please do refer any Young Carers and make them aware of our service.
