The impact of connection and peer support for Carers


Engaging with other Carers can help us feel understood and that our emotions are valid, we can gain practical coping strategies from people who truly understand the challenges of caregiving. We often feel good when helping other people. Offering our own experiences and coping strategies can help others feel less alone and empower them to make positive changes for their own wellbeing.


In peer support groups, there is no need to explain the heavy emotional weight of caregiving. The empathy of other Carers offers comfort and strength.


Through social connections and peer support we can access a supportive community, with a wealth of knowledge around navigating complex healthcare systems, accessing local resources, and managing daily tasks.
