Our workshop ‘Maintaining Wellbeing as a Carer’ took place on the 8th of May. Following some hard work from our team at Sutton Carers Centre and colleagues at Sutton Talking Therapies, we had a full room and some carers joining us online.
Cups of tea in hand, we got comfy and began learning about wellbeing: What it means to us and how we can improve our wellbeing through self-care, taking breaks, developing boundaries, using assertiveness and other support services that are available.
We rounded off the session by doing a relaxation and visualisation to bring a sense of calm and peace to the rest of our day. With practical and achievable tips for Carers to use in everyday life, Carers who attended said -
"It was a very informative workshop and I found it very helpful…I found all of it useful. It helped me think about reactions to stress and different ways to deal with it. I now understand where I can find tools to help with relaxation."
"The workshop was relaxed… and the content was clear. The pack will be useful to help me remember parts of the session when I need it in daily life."
It was a joy to facilitate this group and share information about wellbeing with such an engaged and supportive group of Carers. Thanks to all who attended.
Our next workshop will be on Wednesday the 8th of July at 10.30am at Sutton Carers Centre with the option of joining online if preferable.
