New Carers' Policy Group

What are your views?  Join our Policy Group!

Sutton Carers Centre and Citizens Advice Sutton have worked together for many years – in the longest running partnership between voluntary organisations in the borough with Citizens Advice advisers offering welfare benefits advice at the Centre.

Our two organisations are now working together to influence government policy.

The government has already announced significant changes to welfare benefits that will take effect in April 2026 when new Universal Credit claimants may receive a lower amount then existing claimants. The Government has set up the Timms Review of Personal Independence Payment that may lead to changes in the conditions of entitlement.

We are inviting Carers to participate in a joint Citizens Advice Sutton & Sutton Carers Centre Policy Forum.  The forum meetings will be hybrid - online and in the Centre – at a frequency that we will decide at the first meeting.  The forum will facilitate Carers contributions to Government consultations, challenge public policy on issues such as welfare benefits and ensure that decision makers hear the voices of Sutton Carers.
