For anybody that missed it this Summer, Sutton Council and partners, including Sutton Carers Centre, Age UK Sutton and the NHS, have set out a five-year plan that will focus on supporting Sutton residents at risk of dementia, raising awareness of the disease as well as providing ongoing support to those with a diagnosis and their Carers throughout their dementia journey.
You can read the draft Dementia Strategy on the Council’s website here.
Sutton Carers Centre is excited to be working with our partner organisations including Age UK Sutton and the Sutton Admiral Nurses as part of the Dementia Strategy and also as part of the extended Dementia Hub Team. The Dementia Hub provides a central point of access to help to manage a diagnosis of dementia and enable those affected by dementia to connect with local support more effectively.
The Dementia Hub is able to connect you with a Dementia Adviser service which offers information and advice to enable a person to live well and provide timely access to support around a diagnosis, throughout a person's dementia journey and as things change. You can find out more here: Age UK Sutton | Dementia Support
Aside from this, Age UK Sutton also facilitate a range of wellbeing groups for Carers as well as the person that has a diagnosis of dementia:

SSC Dementia Lead Naomi has been supporting Carers during the closure of Cheam Prior Day Centre and we will keep provide any updates as soon as we have them. You can read about Cheam Priory here, but if you are affected and would like some support, please get in touch.
Sutton Carers Centre facilitates weekly Dementia Carers Peer Support Groups which gives you the opportunity to speak to other Dementia Carers to talk, ask questions, share information and experiences as well as provide support to one another. Each group is on a Tuesday and changes in terms of time and place depending on the week of the month. For further information regarding these groups please see the link below or contact Naomi on 0208 296 5611.
