Supporting respite breaks with Carefree

At Sutton Carers Centre, we understand just how vital it is for Carers to have opportunities to rest, recharge, and take time for themselves. Caring for a loved one can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding.

That’s why we are delighted to announce that as part of our new CARES Respite project, in partnership with Sutton Council, we have joined Carefree, an initiative dedicated to giving Carers the chance to take much-needed breaks away from their caring responsibilities.

What is Carefree?

Carefree is an innovative programme that partners with the hospitality sector to provide short breaks in hotels across the UK for unpaid Carers. It repurposes surplus hotel rooms, transforming them into meaningful opportunities for Carers to step away, relax, and restore their wellbeing.

Why this matters for Carers

Many Carers put their own needs last, often going long periods without any time off which can lead to:

• Increased stress and exhaustion

• Reduced wellbeing and resilience

• Social isolation

Taking even a short break can make a significant difference. Through Carefree, Carers can enjoy:
