Carers Week

Due to the general election our Carers Conference has been postponed, so look out for a new date announcement soon!

Monday 10th June 10am-4pm:

Tree of Life Workshop

Enjoy some you time to reaffirm and express your individuality through a creative process (no drawing skills required).  You will develop ways to think and talk about yourself in ways that make

you gain a greater awareness of your strengths, abilities, and support structures.

Tuesday 11th June: Staff Q&A 

Vanessa Ford, CEO, SWLStG, speaks with staff to highlight the importance of being carer aware.

Wednesday 12th June 1.30-4pm: Supporting someone in a suicidal crisis

Guest speaker Joy Hibbins, founder of award-winning Suicide Crisis Centre in SW England will  explore what can lead to a suicidal crisis and share strategies to help you to support someone who is feeling suicidal.

Wednesday 12th June: Relaunch of the Carer Peer Support Recognition Group 

An online session providing an opportunity to connect with other carers in a safe and supportive space.

Thursday 13th June between 10am-3pm: Positive Posters/Avatar Workshop

Join Owen for yet another one of his exceptional creative sessions.  Enjoy being in the moment and connecting in a warm and friendly environment.  Just bring yourself, light refreshments and art materials will be provided by us, and your creations are yours to keep!  This is an open drop-in session so your welcome to start and finish at a time that works for you.

Friday 14th June 12:00-3pm: Carers and Volunteers Picnic in the Park

Celebrate the value of carers and volunteers by rounding off the week in a relaxed and informal social.

It’s a chance to enjoy the outdoors, explore the new park, meet new people and put carers and volunteers on the map!  The picnic nibbles and refreshments will be provided by us.

Venue: Springfield Park (off Springfield Drive SW17 0YF and Beechcroft Road, Tooting)

Learn how to manage medication safely and confidently. Book here.

Sutton Carers Centre Events for Carers Week

Join us for the following celebrations at at SCC. The following events are also viewable to RSVP on our calendar.

Monday 10th June

  1. 10.30am-12.30pm: Carers Relaxation Group - Join our weekly session for Carers to practice relaxation techniques with and catch up. RSVP here

  2. 3.30-5pm: Chill & Learn Special - Young carers and the Young Carers Service are invited to our weekly term-time session during Carers Week for drinks & snacks, arts, crafts, board games and well-being exercises take place when homework is completed. RSVP here

Tuesday 11th June

  1. 11-12pm: Dementia Carers Peer Support Group - Our weekly group will be meting online for Carers Week - RSVP here

  2. 4.30-7pm: Young Carers, Young Adult Carers and working Carers -  Game zone, crafting and arty activities, refreshments, music and raffle (to be drawn on the Friday) - RSVP here

Wednesday 12th June

10am-12pm: St Helier Outreach - if you're visiting St Helier hospital, Vicky and Ali will be at St Helier to help answer questions and talk about our services.

Thursday 13th June

11am-12pm: Carers Connect Wellbeing Special (online or at SCC) - Join our weekly social group for our regular Wellbeing Special with Kathryn - RSVP here.

Friday 14th June

1-6pm: Open House - This event is open to Carers, colleagues and professionals for:  

  • Music, mingle and info zone

  • Mini massage therapies

  • Crafting & games zone

  • Wellbeing /Emotional drop-in space

  • Health Checks

  • Refreshments throughout the day (sandwiches 1-3pm, 4pm high tea)

  • Raffle
