Mental Health Crisis Line Changes

From Thursday October 1st, the 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line, 0800 028 8000, will transition to NHS 111.
This change is designed to make it easier for people to access urgent mental health support, providing a single, easy-to-remember NHS number while ensuring callers continue to receive timely support from local mental health professionals.
Over recent months, the NHS have been working with patients, Carers, staff and partner organisations across South West London to ensure people understand what this change will mean, and how to access urgent mental health support through NHS 111.
Why is this happening?
NHS 111 for mental health has been available to South London residents since December 2023 and is already an established route into urgent mental health support. This change fully integrates the crisis line into the NHS 111 service, alongside other South London mental health trusts, making it easier for people to access support through a single, nationally recognised number.
The change is part of a national NHS programme designed to make it easier to find help during a mental health crisis, provide a single, easy-to-remember number for urgent care, and improve consistency and access to mental and physical health support through NHS 111.
What do I need to do?
Note down NHS 111 as your route to urgent mental health in South West London from October the 1st and share this information with anyone who may need help in a mental health crisis.
