December has been full of warmth, connection, and festive cheer here at Sutton Carers Centre, and we’ve loved every moment of it ✨
We were delighted to welcome Abbey Primary School’s Peer Support Group for a special visit to the centre. This group has been a fantastic hub for the Young Carers at Abbey Primary, and it was so lovely to have them drop in and see the space for themselves. We know that not all Young Carers are able to visit the centre regularly, so opening our doors for moments like this feels extra special 💛
The Young Carers enjoyed some tasty nibbles, played games with Marcel, Young Carers Engagement and Support Worker, and spent time simply relaxing and connecting with others who just get it. Before heading off, each Young Carer chose a beautiful, hand-stitched quilt, kindly donated by Liz from The Linus Project 🧵🧣 — a truly heartfelt gift to take home.
A huge thank you to Abbey Primary School for making this visit possible. Your continued support is vital in helping Young Carers access safe spaces, build connections, and maintain their right to a normal, happy childhood 🌟#FairFuturesForYoungCarers
To round off the festive period, we wrapped up the year with our final session — a much-loved Chill and Learn, affectionately renamed “Chill NOT Learn” 😄
It was a brilliant catch-up with Young Carers both old and new to the service. We tucked into one of our all-time favourites — pizza 🍕 — watched The Muppets, and for some, the focus was laser-sharp during an intense game of UNO 🃏
A perfect, cosy way to close out the year — full of laughter, comfort, and community ❤️✨
