YCs’ Voices Take Centre Stage at The Oval

Yesterday, Sutton Carers Centre had the privilege of attending the YCs Futures Conference 2025 hosted by Carers Trust at The Oval, with @suttoncarers Senior Manager Julia and YCs Team Leader Sharlene.

It was a truly inspiring day. Young Adult Carers shared lived experiences through spoken word, moving Q&A sessions, and heartfelt personal stories that left everyone in the room moved.

The key message was clear: being a YC is only part, albeit a large part of a YC’s life. Many also manage personal illnesses or disabilities. YCs are brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, best friends — navigating the same everyday challenges as peers while taking on added responsibilities far beyond their years. YCs want to make their own choices and ensure their voices are heard.

These stories highlighted the immense strength, resilience, and determination of YCs, reinforcing the commitment at Sutton Carers Centre: to listen, champion, and provide the support needed for YCs to enjoy a Fair Future.

By sharing experiences, YCs shape a world where contributions are valued, needs are recognised, and potential is unlocked. The conference was more than an event — it was a celebration of courage, a call for change, and a powerful reminder of why this raisng awareness of YCs matters.

Sutton Carers Centre is proud to stand alongside YCs, champion voices, and continue working to ensure lived experiences are heard — today, and every day.
