Help Shape Respite in Sutton

Since April, we’ve been receiving referrals from social workers for Carers who are struggling to access respite - or feel that it simply isn’t available to them.
But we know this is a much bigger issue, and we want to hear directly from you.
Your experiences and ideas are vital in helping us design respite services in Sutton that truly meet Carers’ needs.
We’re holding a series of focus groups and discussions throughout June and July, led by Nick, who is coordinating the CARES (Carers Access to Respite and Extending Support) Project.
During Groups we will introduce the topic and kick off the conversation to gain you views but will follow up with a feedback form which you can complete with much more detail, or speak to Nick separately about your experiences.
The aim is not to take up your Peer Support time, but if consensus is to utilise the session for this purpose, it might be the ideal time to get all your frustrations out and gain peer support around this topic...
Whether you attend a dedicated session or a regular support group, we encourage you to share openly and honestly about:
What respite means to you
What would actually help
What types of activities or support you would use
Upcoming sessions:
June 23rd - Dementia Carers (online) at 6.30pm
June 30th - Stand-alone focus group at 6.30pm- welcoming all but specifically YACs and working Carers
July 1st - Parent Carers (of young adults) Peer Support Group at 10.30am
July 7th - Male Carers Group (in-person) Peer Support Group at 11am
July 15th - Parent Carers (of children/ in-person) Peer Support Group at 10.30am and blended Mental Health Group Peer Support Group at 12.30pm
July 21st - Dementia Carers (in-person) at 11am
If none of these groups or times suit you, please complete the Feedback form linked below or ask for a paper version when you pop into the Centre.
If you have any questions about respite opportunities or are concerned about your wellbeing, please get in touch.
